These three pictures were taken as a long-exposure experiment. I had just starting photography and was trying to emulate Tokihiro Sato's style. He used flashlights or firecrackers in his photos. He also had a camera that could take hour long exposure shots. I had a beginner-level Canon and it only took thirty-second exposures. So, I had to get creative and work with what I had.
After some thought, I decided to try using Christmas lights. That way the lights could be moved without accidentally capturing a person in the background of the picture.
One of my friends and her little sister where ballerinas, so I asked her to pose for the photo-shoot. I had two other friends raise the Christmas lights from the ground and wiggle them as they rose. After much trial-and-error I ended with these three pictures.
